JEE MAIN 2017 Info, eligibility, dates, application form

JEE MAIN 2017 Exam dates are announced. exam will be conducted on 02 April 2017. It is the most prestigious exam for taking admission in Engineering and Architecture courses in the institute of repute. Students who want to take admission in National Institutes of Technology NITs, Indian Institutes of Information Technology IIITs, other centrally funded Technical Institutions CFTIs, Indian Institute of Technology IITs and many other institutes should take Joint Entrance Examination Main. As the state level exam of some of states are discontinued, Candidates seeking admission to the institutions in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland & Odisha should appear in this exam. The JEE (Main) is an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced).

Note Changes in JEE Main 2017

This exam is different than previous year exam. Note that 12th board marks will not be given weightage for calculation of final ranks. Performance of 12th class will be seen for admission in IIT, NIT, IIITs and CFTIs. Note that Candidates should secure minimum 75% (65% marks for SC / ST Candidates) marks or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th Class Examination. This year Aadhaar number is required to fill up the online application form.

Eligibility Criteria

It is the responsibility of the students to confirm their eligibility for appearing in the Test. I am describing the eligibility criteria of the test. Students should note following eligibility criteria for appearing in the IIT JEE Main Exam.

Aspirants born on or after October 01, 1992 ( October 01, 1987 for SC / ST / PWD Candidates) are  only eligible.
Aspirants who have passed their Class 12th Exam in 2015 or 2016 are eligible.
Students appearing in Class 12th Exam  in 2017 are also eligible to apply.

Number of attempts for a candidate are 03 (three). Number of subjects should be at least five subjects in class 12th/ qualifying examination are eligible.

ONLINE APPLICATION FORM / REGISTRATION

Students should fill up the online application form. The online application form is available from 1st December, 2016 onwards.  The candidates should apply online through website http:/www.jeemain.nic.in. The last date for submission of application form is 02 January 2017.

The candidates have to give personal details and upload online their photograph, signature and thumb impression. All the details are to be submitted online and there is no need of sending hard copy of the application. However, candidate should take a print out of filled application form for future reference.

Note:
The candidates will have to fill up their AADHAAR  CARD number. The details filled by the candidate SHOULD MATCH with data with UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). Candidate should fill up personal details as given in Aadhaar Card. If on validation, these particulars do not match then the candidate will not be able to fill the application.

EXAMINATION FEE The fee can be paid by methods 1) By Debit/Credit Card. 2)Through E-challan generated after successful submission of online application form. The fee through E-challan may be deposited in any branch of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/ HDFC Bank.

EXAM PATTERN

Paper 1: Mode of exam for this paper will be online as well as offline.It is for admission to engineering courses (B.Tech/BE). There will be 90 objective type questions from subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each correct answer will get 4 marks. Wrong answer will fetch -01 mark (negative marking). Duration of paper will be 03 hours (04 hours for PWD Candidates).

Paper 2: Mode of exam for this paper will be offline. It is for admission to Architecture course. (B.Arch).The paper will consists of subjects – Mathematics, Aptitude, Drawing. The paper will consists of 82 questions as given below. Duration of paper will be 03 hours (04 hours for PWD Candidates). Each correct answer will get 04 marks (2 questions of drawing will carry 70 marks). There is negative marking also and Each incorrect answer will get -01 mark.  Language of paper will be Hindi and English.

The candidates may appear in Paper-1 (B.E. / B. Tech.), or he may appear in Paper-2 (B. Arch./ B. Planning). The candidate may also choose to appear in both paper.

JEE MAIN Admit Card 2017

Candidates are required to download admit card from jee (main) website www.jeemain.nic.in from first week of march 2017. The candidate will not get their Admit Card by post. For downloading the admit card, the candidates will be required to provide their roll no. and board details of class 12th/ equivalent qualifying examination on the jee (main) website.
