State Level National Talent Search Exam, NTSE, Kerala 2016 – 17 is organized by The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kerala. This is a Stage 1 Exam conducted for the selection of students for Stage 2 Exam of NTSE conducted by National Council of Educational Research & Training (NCERT). The NTSE exam is  conducted to award scholarships to the talented students.

1. NTSE KERALA Exam Dates 2016 – 17

1. Last date of Online submission of NTSE KERALA Application Form :- 10th September 2016
2. NTSE KERALA Examination Date :- 6th November 2016(Sunday).

2. NTSE KERALA Eligibility

Students who are studying in Class X during this academic year (2016 – 17) in any Government/Aided/Kendriya Vidyalaya/Recognised schools/

Navodaya Vidyalaya in Kerala are eligible to appear in the State-level NTS Examination.

Students who have secured not less than 55% for all non-language subjects in the qualifying examination of class IX of 2015-16 will be eligible to appear in the examination.

3. NTSE KERALA Application Form 2016 – 17

Students are required to apply Online. Visit the website of SCERT Kerala (www.scert.kerala.gov.in) and Click on the link online payment of NTSE fee (SBT). Click on the options for remittance of the fee (Credit card/Debit card, Internet banking/SBT Branch – challan mode). After remitting fee you will get a SB collect reference number starting with DU………… By internet banking  you will get the similar number. SB collect reference number is required for filling up of online application form.

After 48 hours after the payment of the fee either online or at the bank counter, the NTSE application will be open. Fill up the application form using SB collect reference number. Do not press confirm. If correction is required click ‘Online application Editing.’ Then enter your application ID and application Number and do the necessary corrections. Note the application ID and application number for future reference / use.  After confirmation further editing is not possible.

The hard copy of the filled application of the following category of the students should be accompanied with:

Attested photocopy of the caste certificate /BPL certificate .
Attested copy of medical certificate by Physically challenged candidates.

4. Admit Card

Students have to enter their Application ID and Application Number to get the admit card from SCERT Website.

5. Examination Fee

Fee for General Category is Rs.250/- For SC/ST/ BPL Category is Rs.100/-

 6. Pattern

The test will be conducted in Two Parts:
Part I – Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) comprises of 100 objective type questions from Social science, Science subjects and Mathematics, 90 min duration. Portions included for the State Level Test under Part I are as follows.
a. 9th & 10th standard entire portions of Kerala State syllabus for the current academic year.
b. 9th & 10th standard entire portions of CBSE syllabus for the current academic year.
c. Certain portions studied in lower classes which are essential for the proper understanding of the subjects. The questions will be of higher order involving application and reasoning.
Part II consists of Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Language Comprehension Test. There will be 50 Questions in Mental Ability Test and 50 question in Language Comprehension Test (50 questions in Malayalam Language and 50 questions in English Language), 90 minutes duration. Candidates can choose either Malayalam or English for Language Comprehension Test. Language Comprehension Test is of qualifying nature. Candidates must score a minimum for 40% marks in Language Comprehension Test. All questions in Part I and II are of objective type.

The candidates are supposed to answer Part I (SAT) and then Part II (MAT) after an interval of one hour. Candidate can choose English, Malayalam, Tamil or Kannada as medium of Examination for SAT & MAT.
